Keo Khounlo Pittman, age 33, Storm Lake, died Sunday, September 23, 2001, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake of injuries suffered in a stabbing incident in her Storm Lake home.

Keo Gail Khounlo was born February 18, 1968, in Laos the daughter of Khamlo and Houng Khounlo. She graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1988 and attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls studying to be an elementary teacher.

In high school Keo was a member of the National Honor Society, participated in the band and was a member of the Tornado Flag Corps. She was baptized and confirmed at Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Storm Lake. Her family and friends will remember her as a hard-working and loving mother.

She is survived by four sons, Dominique, age 10, Desmond, age 8, Davonn, age 5 and Deon, age 2, all of Storm Lake; her parents, Khamlo and Houng Khounlo, Storm Lake; a brother, Daovong, Iowa City; three sisters, Vanny Phothiboupha and her husband, Vila, Des Moines, Darouny Khounlo, Storm Lake and Joanne Khounlo, Ames; her maternal grandparents Sam and Choy Thongvanh, Storm Lake; her paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, Oi Bacthi and Dinh Baccam, Vietnam.

Also surviving are numerous extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 29th, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. at Lakeside Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Duane Queen and Pastor Barry Thongvanh officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral service with burial at a later date in the Tai-Dam section of Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

Friends may call at the Fratzke Funeral Home in Storm Lake on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. where the family will be present to greet friends. A memorial fund to benefit Keo's children has been established at Commercial Trust and Savings Bank in Storm Lake.
