Viola Stieneke - Sept. 19. 1915 - Oct. 11, 2001

Viola W. Stieneke, 86, of Omaha, Nebraska, and formerly of Storm Lake and Quimby, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2001, at 5 a.m. in the Florence Home in Omaha following an extended illness.

She was born on September 19, 1915, in Cherokee County, to Joseph "West" and Grace (Will) McGregor. She was married to Kenneth L. Stieneke on February 22, 1936, at Cherokee. She had been a resident of Omaha the past 4 1/2 years. Prior to this time, she had lived in Storm Lake for 25 years and had also lived in the Washta and Quimby areas. She loved to sew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on March 30, 1997, a daughter in infancy, a grandson, one brother John McGregor, three sister, Virginia and Vera McGregor, and Vivian Hadenfeldt.

She is survived by one daughter and one son; Mary and Lyle Cave of Omaha, Neb.; Marvin and Judy Stieneke of Washta; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; two sisters; Rhea Garrett and her husband Clarence of Seminole, Fla., Annabelle Johnson of Moville; also several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, October 16, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Silver Township Cemetery at rural Quimby. Mrs. Stieneke's remains were cremated. There will be no visitation. The Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee is in charge of the arrangements.
