Larry Stern - Aug. 10, 1941 - [Oct. 9, 2001]*

Larry Albert Stern, formerly of Albert City, passed away at the Glacial Ridge Hospital at the age of 60 years, one month, and 29 days.

Larry, the son of Albert and Fay (Anholz) Stern, was born August 10, 1941, in Albert City. He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church, Storm Lake. His family moved to Sedan, Minn., in 1956. Larry married Renee Halgrimson on December 29, 1959. Larry served in the U.S. Army for five years, three of which he was stationed in Germany, where two of their four children were born.

Larry was a farmer, mechanic and welder, working at Willmar Mfg., then Agco for the past 22 years. Larry came from a big family and really enjoyed family gatherings. He enjoyed cooking for the holidays for the family. Larry loved ice fishing, especially with his sons, brother and friends at Lake of the Woods. Larry also loved golfing in Brooten. He became an avid golfer.

Larry's grandchildren have many fond memories of fishing trips, golfing, cheering at ball games, and his Best American "burnt" Fries.

Larry is survived by his wife Renee, sons Kevin (Pam), Kurtis (Kris), both of Kandiyohi, daughter Kim (Larry) of Brooten; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Stark, Brenda (Adrian) Cailey and Devin Titrud, Anthony Stern, Heather and Brandon Fischer, Kayla, Krystal, and Matthew Stern; sisters, Loretta (Carol) Peterson, Linn Grove, LuElla Sievers, Denver, Col., LaVonne (Lyle) Rosdail, Kensington, Minn., Lorna Beilke, Denver Col., Lanita (Marshall) Sondrol, Glenwood, Minn., Lenona (Thom) Greiner, Sedan, Minn., Laurinda (Fred) Baumann, Blue Springs, Neb.; brothers, Lester (Hilda), Nottingham, Pa., Layton (Carol), Filley, Neb., and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother LeRoy, son Keith, grandson Lucas, and brother-in-law Bill Beilke.

Funeral services for Larry Albert Stern were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 13, 2001, at Big Grove Lutheran Church, Brooten, Minn., with Reverend Michael DeKraai officiating.

Interment was in Big Grove Lutheran Cemetery, Brooten Minn.
