Claudia J. Schug, 75, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
She was born September 14, 1925, in Ida Grove, to Claude M. and Lizzie B. (Betts) Hanson. She grew up in Ida Grove and graduated from Ida Grove High School. She taught school in the area for one year then married Leslie W. Schug February 13, 1944, in Ida Grove. They farmed in the Ida Grove area until moving to Kearney in 1964. They owned and operated the Culligan Water Conditioning business until 1979. Her husband died in 1986.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney, the University of Nebraska at Kearney Athletic Association and the good Samaritan Hospital Service League. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and she also loved music, playing the piano and organ.
She is survived by one son, Scot Schug, River Falls, Wis.; one daughter, Susan Rhynalds of Oxford, Neb.; Daughter-in-law, Barbara Schug, Kearney Neb.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Donna Miller of Ellwood City, Penn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Steven Schug in 1992, five sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services for Claudia J. Schug are scheduled for Tuesday, September 4, 2001, at 10 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Kearney, Nebraska.
Rev. North P. Sherrill will officiate and Interment will be at the Kearney Cemetery.
Memorials are planned to the Good Samaritan Hospital Hospice Program and the Sub-Acute Skilled Nursing floor. The Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary of Kearney is in charge of arrangements.
