Anna Marie Demers, 88, passed away September 3, 2001, at Buena Vista Manor, in Storm Lake.

She was born on December 31, 1912, at Noble, Ill., and came to Iowa as a young woman where she worked for several families in the Storm Lake area.

On June 20, 1931, she married William Norman Peterson. They became members of St. Peters Lutheran Church in Newell. They farmed with his father. This union was blessed with three children, Donna, Leonard, and William. In August of 1948, her husband was killed in a automobile accident. In 1954, she married Joseph Demers and they farmed in the Truesdale area. Joseph passed away in 1978. Anna worked at Buena Vista Manor as a cook and retired in 1986. she was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Alta.

She is survived by her three children, Donna and Lowell Merry of Milford, Leonard and Trudy Peterson of rural Storm Lake, and William and Carole Peterson of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson.

She is preceded in death of her parents; two husbands; and four sisters, Eve Frank, Laura Tolliver, Ina Stephens, and Francis Sievers; and four brothers, Bert, Leroy, Marshall, and John Jones.

Funeral services for Anna will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2001, at 11:00 a.m. at the Barker Funeral Home in Alta with Pastor Kevin Huss officiating.

Interment will be in the Newell Cemetery in Newell. Funeral arrangements are by the Barker Funeral Home.
