Jeanette Mourene Kenzy, 82, of Storm Lake and a former long time resident of Early, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 10, 2001.

Jeanette was born July 21, 1919, in Sac County, the third child of Earle F. and Matilda (Hinde) Hiersche of rural Early. She graduated from Early High School earned a teacher's certificate from Iowa State Teacher's College in Cedar Falls. Some of the towns she taught in were Irwin, Webster City, and Sioux City. She also served in the Red Cross in London, England.

Jeanette was married to John Edward Kenzy on June 11, 1950. In 1954 she and John and the family moved to the family farm in Early.

She was an active member of the Early United Methodist Church, U.M.W., Questers, Book Review, and had been active in the Republican Party. She enjoyed rural life, the outdoors, bird watching, writing poetry, art, antiques, music, and culture.

She is survived by her husband, John; five children: Martha, Hansel and husband Dennis, Earle, Mourene, Joan LeMaster and husband Art; grandsons Bryan and Roger; her brother-in-law Kenneth LeMoine and nephews Tom, Bruce, and John and their families.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, and her two sisters, Marian LeMoine and Florence Hiersche.

Funeral services were held on September 14, 2001, at United Methodist Church, in Early with Rev. Robert W. Lemmermann and Rev. Karl Schiltz officiating. Interment will be at the Early Union Cemetery. Arrangements are by Farber and Ottoman Funeral Home in Sac City.
