Lillian Jones, 87, of Linn Grove, passed away Monday, April 9, 2001, at her home in Linn Grove.

Lillian Emelia, the daughter of Carl J. and Ida (Nilsson) Lorence, was born Jan. 23, 1914, in Meridan. At the age of three, she moved with her family to a farm four miles west of Marathon. She attended school and graduated from Marathon High School in 1931. She then attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake for one year.

On July 7, 1933, she married Carl O. Jones in Rapid City, S.D. Following their marriage, they moved to a farm near Linn Grove where they have made their home ever since.

Mrs. Jones was a very active member of the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove where she sang for the choir and was a soloist for many occasions. She was also active in the Women's Club, Douglas Happy Neighbors and TOPS Club in Royal. She enjoyed gardening and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Myrtle Garton and Melva Foval.

Mrs. Jones is survived by one daughter and her husband Marilyn and Oscar Carlson of Onalaska, Wis.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister Minetta Bowman of Buena Park, Calif.; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Jones will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2001, at Warner Chapel in Spencer with Pastor Steve Smith officiating. Burial will be at North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer. Warner Funeral Home of Spencer is in charge of the arrangements.
