Mary Jo Nierling - June 29, 1930 - Mar. 18, 2001

Mary Jo Roberts Nierling, 70, of Alta, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2001, in Alta.

Mary Jo, the daughter of Walter Mack and Ruby Helen (Tripp) Roberts, was born June 29, 1930, in Deere Ridge, Mo. She was baptized into the Methodist Church in Deere Ridge. She graduated from LaBelle High School in 1948.

Following graduation she married Russell Suter on Aug. 21, 1948. To this union five children, Jack, Larry, Terry, Sandy and Angie, were born.

On Feb. 24, 1968, she married Charles Nierling. This union was blessed with two children, Clint and Quinn.

Mrs. Nierling lived in Lewis County, Mo., until the family moved to Alta in 1968 where she lived until the time of her death.

Mrs. Nierling enjoyed hunting for wild mushrooms, going to garage sales and being with her children, grandchildren and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister Marjorie Frances; two brothers: Ray and his wife Neva Dee Roberts and Bill Roberts; one son Clint Nierling and two grandsons: Andrew and Kyle Suter.

Mrs. Nierling is survived by four sons and their wives: Jack and Linda Suter of Durham, Mo., Larry and Desi Suter of Alta; Terry and Nora Suter of Palmyra, Mo., and Quinn and Tammi Nierling of Alta; two daughters and their husbands: Sandy and Virgil Hatfield of Ewing, Mo., and Angie and Jim Hanson of Clarion; one daughter-in-law Darlene Nierling of Charles City; a very special friend Marcy Seifken of Alta; one sister and her husband Jean and Lester Cary of Lewistown, Mo.; one sister-in-law JoAnn Campbell of Carthage, Ill., and 19 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nierling will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, 2001, at the Coder Chapel in LaBelle, Mo., with Rev. Ernest Dietrick officiating.

Burial will be in LaBelle Cemetery in LaBelle, Mo. The Barker Funeral Home of Alta is in charge of the arrangements.
