Donna Magnussen Robinson - July 14, 1941 - Jan. 27, 2008
Donna Gregg Magnussen Robinson, age 66, of Newell, Iowa, and formerly of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died Sunday, January 27, 2008, at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Donna was born July 14, 1941, in Cherokee, Iowa, the daughter of Leslie and Alice (Cave) Gregg. She was raised in the Larabee, Iowa, area and received her education in the Larabee schools, graduating from Larabee High School in 1959. Donna continued her education by attending Stewart’s School of Hairstyling in Sioux City, Iowa.
On April 24, 1960, Donna was united in marriage to Paul Magnussen in Cherokee, Iowa. The couple was blessed with seven children: Dean, Chris, Dawn, Duane, Lisa, Brenda and Kevin. In 1985, Donna married Bernard Robinson.
Donna spent her younger years raising her family and keeping a warm and comfortable home for them. For the past eleven years, she worked as a housekeeper at Pleasantview Nursing Home in Albert City, Iowa.
Donna enjoyed gardening and canning the fruits of her labors to share with her family during the winter months. She liked to knit and enjoyed going dancing. She and Bernard liked to socialize with their many friends at the Beef Country restaurant in Albert City. She loved her cats and dogs. Most of all, Donna treasured her family and the time she and Bernard were able to spend with them. She will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 22 years, Bernard Robinson, of Newell; son Dean and wife Lois Magnussen of DuBois, Wyoming, and their children, Kasey, Courtney and Dillon; daughter Chris and husband Tom Hare of Linn Grove, Iowa, and their children, Mark and Michele; daughter Dawn and husband John Miller of Albert City, and their children Cody, Eric and Alex; son Duane and wife Cindy Magnussen of Newell, and their children Cole and Morgan; daughter Lisa and her husband, Dick Reinert of Marcus, Iowa, and their children, Joshua and Jacob; daughter Brenda and husband Dean West of Peterson, Iowa, and their children, Derik and Emily; and her son Kevin and wife Wendy Magnussen of Moville, Iowa.
Donna is further survived by her sister, Darlene and husband Loren Woltman of Cherokee; step-children, Beth Dorset, Steve Robinson and Dave Robinson; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Delores Nibler; and one brother in infancy, Francis.
Funeral services for Mrs. Robinson are scheduled for Thursday, January 31, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Friends may call Wednesday, January 30, 2008, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present.
