Robert W. Deason, 79, of Aurelia, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2001, at his home in Aurelia following a lengthy illness.

Robert Warren, the son of Walter and Maude (Parman)) Deason, was born Feb. 2, 1922, in Siloam Springs, Mo. He graduated from Albany High School in 1940.

He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as a bombardier in World War II. He completed his college degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri in 1948.

He met Maxine Traynor of Sioux City in college and the couple married on June 5, 1946. He began his career as a fieldman for the Farm Bureau in Ida Grove. The couple lived in Sioux City and Aurelia for 30 years where Mr. Deason was a cattle buyer for Armour, Needham Pack, Spencer Pack and Land O' Lakes. Since 1985 he and his wife had spent their winters in Tempe, Ariz.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and had enjoyed planting flowers there for 25 years. Mr. Deason also enjoyed playing bridge, shooting pool and he loved the Midwest and the good Iowa farmland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Mary Deason and six brothers: Morris, Thomas, Louis, Frank, Kerlin and Russell.

Mr. Deason is survived by his wife Maxine of Aurelia; three sons: John and his wife Carolyn Deason of Muscatine, Dwight and his wife Marijo Deason of Des Moines and Dennis Deason of Aurelia; one daughter Win Ann Dell'Ario of Half Moon Bay, Calif.; one grandson; one great-grandson; three sisters: Margaret Johnson of Albany, Mo., Louise Gates of Sebree, Ky. and Grace and her husband Willford Knight of Robards, Ky.; three sisters-in-law: Lois Deason and Norma Ruth Deason of Albany, Mo. and Nellie Deason of Smyrna, Tenn.; nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Deason will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at the First United Methodist Church in Aurelia with Pastor Jack O. Weida officiating.

Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia.

Visitation will be today from 2 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia. A memorial fund has been established.
