Geri Nesbitt, 66, of Newell, formerly of Pocahontas, passed away Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001, at her home in Newell.

Geri, the daughter of Floyd and Helen (Boyd) Martindale, was born May 13, 1934, in Leon. She graduated from Guthrie Center High School and went on to earn an associate of arts degree from Sioux Empire College in Hawarden.

On April 4, 1953, she was united in marriage to Richard L. Nesbitt in Earlham. The couple lived in Charles City, Pocahontas, and Newell. Mrs. Nesbitt worked at the family floral business in Pocahontas and then at Groundswell Direct in Albert City.

She was a member of Nain Lutheran Church and the Republican party. She enjoyed crafts, reading, politics, interior decorating and helping others. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and having fun with her grandkids.

Mrs. Nesbitt was preceded in death by one son Lance; her father Floyd Martindale; her step-father Francis Dingman and one sister, Darlene.

She is survived by her husband Dick of Newell; three sons and their wives: Craig and Shari Nesbitt of Pocahontas, Brad and Barb Nesbitt of Alta, and Scott and Janelle Nesbitt of Lake City; one daughter Pam and her husband Rick Sievers of Newell; nine grandchildren; her mother Helen Dingman of Newell; three brothers: Jim and Linda Martindale of Newell, Boyd and Diana Dingman of Omaha, Neb. and Earl Dingman of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters: Helen and Rich Foster of Lake View and Ginger and Frank Swaney of Hampton.

Funeral services for Mrs. Nesbitt will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at Nain Lutheran Church in Newell with Rev. Tom Hagen officiating.

Burial will be in Newell Cemetery. Powers Funeral Home of Pocahontas is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Pocahontas.
