Verna Wilson, 92, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2001, at the Newell Good Samaritan Center.
Verna Edna, the daughter of John and Anna (Just) Schumann, was born March 30, 1908, in Varina. She was baptized and confirmed at the German Methodist Church in rural Varina. She received her education in the Coon Township school.
On Feb. 16, 1928, she married Emery Wilson in Coon Township. The couple farmed in Coon Township until 1959 when they moved into Newell.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of the Newell United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Woman, and several other local clubs. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, tatting, crocheting, and being a meticulous homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Emery on May 27, 1988; one daughter Marjorie Waggie and two brothers: Leon and Marvin Schumann.
Mrs. Wilson is survived by one son Dale and his wife Irene Wilson of Newell; one son-in-law Roger Waggie of Storm Lake; four granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Alice Williams of Ames and Clara Schumann of Storm Lake.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wilson will be at 10:30 a.m. today, Feb. 3, 2001, at United Methodist Church in Newell with Rev. Geneva Parsons officiating.
Burial will be in Newell Cemetery. Farber and Otteman Funeral Home of Newell is in charge of the arrangements.
