Obituary from the Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune newspaper dated Thursday, December 26, 1946:

Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church Thursday afternoon for Mrs. Nettie Clough, who passed quietly away at her home in Sioux Rapids Monday morning, December 16. Reverend L. Perkins, pastor, officiated. A quartet from the church choir sang "Jesus, Lover of My Soul" and Abide With Me." Concluding the service, Murray Pewsey of Des Moines, a grandson of Mrs. Clough, sang "Face to Face." Burial was in the family lot in Lone Tree cemetery, under the direction of the Green Funeral Home.

Laura Jennette Langdon was born in Seneca, Wisconsin, September 25, 1859, youngest child of Samuel and Nancy (Emory) Langdon, and passed away at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 21 days.

In her early girlhood she moved with her parents to Storm Lake, where she later met and married Wayne Blount. To this union were born two children, Clyde Blount of Sioux Rapids and Belle (Mrs. Charles) Pewsey of Calvin, North Dakota.

After Mr. Blount's sudden death, she and the two small children moved to a farm near Sioux Rapids where she kept home for her brother, Frank Langdon.

On September 1, 1886, she was united in marriage to John Franklin Clough. This union was blessed with three daughters, Nellie Ritchards of Elk Falls, Kansas, Isa Lauman of Los Angeles, and Aura (Mrs. Ralph) Jacobsen of International Falls, Minnesota.

For 15 years the Cloughs resided on his father's homestead. In 1900 they purchased a farm near Sioux Rapids where they lived until 1918 when they moved to the present home in Sioux Rapids. Mr. Clough died suddenly on April 8, 1930.

Mrs. Clough was an esteemed member of the Congregational Church in Sioux Rapids and a faithful worker for many years. She was a great lover of her home and her family, and counted it a high privilege to make a home for her grandchildren, Jeannette and Jimmie Lauman, during the last years of activity. She was a good neighbor and loyal friend.

She is survived by all five of her children, also by 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
