Obituary from the Sioux Rapids Republican newspaper dated Saturday, February 23, 1901:

Died. At the home of her son, William, Mrs. Clough on Sunday, February 17, 1901, aged seventy two years. She was born in Vermont in 1828 and one of the earliest settlers in this vicinity. Her husband was a prominent citizen of the G. A. R. post at this place being named in his honor. The funeral was held at the residence and the remains were laid to rest in Lone Tree Cemetery.
