Obituary from The Republican Press newspaper dated Thursday, April 10, 1930:

John F. Clough, one of the old and highly respected residents of Buena Vista county dropped dead of heart disease in the Kladstrup & Wood hardware store doorway at 3:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. It had been known for some time that Mr. Clough had been suffering with heart trouble but he seemed to be no worse than usual on the day of his death. In fact he had been motoring with Mrs. Clough and putting the car in his garage, walked down town, a distance of about four blocks, to make some small purchases. He was seen walking east and when in front of the Kladstrup & Woods store he attempted to step into the doorway when he faltered and fell backward. Medical assistance was summoned at once but it is thought that death must have been instantaneous as he showed no signs of life when examined.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Friday, afternoon at two-thirty at the home, Reverend E. W. Willcox in charge of the services. A complete obituary will be published in next week's issue of this paper.
