Curtis Haroldson - Dec. 6, 1922 - Jan. 25, 2001

Curtis Haroldson, 78, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001, in Sioux City.

Curtis Norman, the son of Helmer and Mary (Grodahl) Haroldson, was born Dec. 6, 1922, in Barnes Township. He was baptized and confirmed in the Little Sioux Valley Lutheran Church near Rembrandt. He graduated from Rembrandt High School in 1941 and attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls, S.D., prior to entering the service.

He was a member of the United States Army and served in the European Theater in World War II. Upon returning to the States, Mr. Haroldson attended Augustana and Iowa State College. Following college, he farmed with his father and brother Paul on the family farm near Rembrandt.

On June 12, 1949, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Scott. He was a life long farmer in the Rembrandt and Linn Grove areas.

He served on the Linn Grove Farmers Coop Elevator board and was a Barnes Township trustee. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove where he served on the church council.

Mr. Haroldson was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Paul and one sister Esther.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Phyllis, of Spencer; one daughter Joyce and her husband Ron Stover of Mediapolis; one son Keith and his wife Nancy Haroldson of Des Moines; one sister Alice Halverson of Sioux Rapids; two brothers: Edward Haroldson of Minneapolis, Minn. and Ralph Haroldson of Dallas, Texas; one aunt Anna Genson of Sioux Rapids; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Haroldson was devoted to his family and was a faithful steward of the land.

Funeral services for Mr. Haroldson were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove with Pastor Sanford Sill officiating.

Pallbearers were Steven Jessen, Joshua Jessen, Richard Nelson, John Nelson, Lance Raglan and Burdette Burrell. Honorary bearers were Dr. Quenten Sundberg, Bob Brostad, Carol Fries, Leonard Anderson, Floyd Mangold, Wayne Rogne, Lee Helle, Marvin Anderson and Wes Huffman.

Burial was at Barnes Township Cemetery in Linn Grove. Sliefert Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
