Irene E. Culbertson, 78, of Storm Lake, passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at the Buena Vista County Hospital.

Irene, the daughter of William and Bessie Townsend, was born Dec. 1, 1922, in Fairbury, Neb. She attended elementary and high school in Fairbury.

On June 11, 1949, she was united in marriage to Gerald D. (Jerry) Culbertson in Avoca. Following their marriage and work-related moves, the couple found roots in Storm Lake in 1960.

Mrs. Culbertson was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Jimmie Whitlock.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald D. Culbertson; two sons: Jerry Culbertson and Steve Culbertson, both of Storm Lake; one daughter-in-law Jane Culbertson; one grandson Tyler J. Culbertson; one step-granddaughter Holly Svendsen; one sister Mrs. Ruby Everhart of Fairbury, Neb.; many nieces; one nephew and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Culbertson will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Pastor Ken Bell will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service.
Burial will be at the Storm Lake Cemetery. Sliefert Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
