Violet Moller, 86, of Newell, passed away Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at the Newell Good Samaritan Center.

Violet Rae, was born Dec. 18, 1914, in Everett, Wash., the daughter of Harvey Tillman and Josephine Mary (Hendriks) Schweers. She attended school in Everett, Wash., graduating in 1932.

In July of 1932, she was united in marriage to Arthur Schmidt. The couple moved to Mukilte, Wash. In Aug. of 1946 she married Bill Moller and the couple moved to Iowa.

Mrs. Moller worked as a cook in many Storm Lake restaurants and drove the city cab for a few years. Following their retirement, the couple moved to Newell where Mrs. Moller was very active with the Rebecca Lodge, Past Noble Grands, Hobby Club, Town and Country card club, the Good Samaritan Camping Group and the Stormy Water Rollers, which she and her husband started. The couple worked for many years caring for the Corps of Engineer Campgrounds in Texas and Missouri.

She enjoyed crafts, square dancing, breeding and raising Chinese Pug dogs, and the couple loved going to their summer home in Spirit Lake where they enjoyed fishing. She was very pleased to have started a Brownie troop in Newell in 1960 where she was a very active leader for six years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother Carlos; two sisters, Sadie and Marge and one grandson Barton Nehring.

Mrs. Moller is survived by her husband Bill of Newell; one daughter Alyce and her husband Frank Falkner of Newell; one son Arthur T. Schmidt of Soldotna, Alaska; three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Moller were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2000, at the United Methodist Church in Newell with Rev. Geneva Parsons officiating.

The Stormy Water Rollers were the honorary attendants. Burial was in Newell Cemetery. Farber and Otteman Funeral Home of Newell was in charge of the arrangements.
