Mrs. Luft passed away Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at the Yankton Care Center.

Edna was born Feb. 12, 1898, the daughter of John and Ida (Zein) Peper at Lake View. She grew up in the Lake View area and remained there most of her life.

On Feb. 20, 1918, she was united in marriage to John Luft in Lake View. The couple farmed in northwest Iowa for many years before moving to Storm Lake. In 1997 she moved to Yankton to be closer to her daughter.

Mrs. Luft and her husband were very instrumental in starting the Senior Citizens Center in Storm Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son; one daughter; three brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Luft is survived by one son Leland and his wife June of Silver Springs, Md.; one daughter Dorothy Luft of Gayville, S.D.; one brother Rufus Peper of Storm Lake; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Edna Luft, 102, of Yankton, formerly of Storm Lake, will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake with Rev. Ken Bell officiating.

Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park in Storm Lake. Sliefert Funeral Home and Kostel Funeral Home of Yankton are in charge of the arrangements.
