Verner B. Davis, age 78, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at the Yuma Regional Hospital in Yuma, Arizona.

Verner was born March 31, 1928, in Grand Island, Nebraska, to Verner B. Davis, Sr., and Francis (Humphrey) Davis. He graduated from Osceola High School in Osceola, Iowa.

On October 5, 1960, Vern was joined in marriage to Shirley Jo Heikens in Jackson, Minnesota. They made their home in Storm Lake where Vern was the owner/operator of Agrischools.

Vern was actively involved in various cattle associations, and he served on a number of their respective boards of directors.

Over the years, Vern and Jo made many memories. They were inseparable and enjoyed camping, dancing and getting together with family. They logged many miles traveling in their R.V. Vern loved to write poetry, publishing “Farmers, Ranchers and Other Gamblers”. He was friends with many and talked with anyone who would visit awhile. In addition, Vern loved the rodeo and people in general. He took much pleasure in listening to his niece, Denise Williams, play the piano.

A devoted husband and friend, Vern will be missed by family and friends alike.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 46 years, Jo, of Storm Lake; two brothers: Keith Davis and his wife Carrie of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Larry Davis of Chariton, Iowa; one sister, Jan Hester, and her husband, Bob, of Medina, Tennessee; many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

Vern was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Willard Davis.
