C. Darrel Keiser - May 5, 1919 - May 31, 2007
Clifford Darrel Keiser, age 88, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Methodist Manor in Storm Lake.
Clifford Darrel Keiser was born May 5, 1919, in South English, Iowa, to Charles Homer and Florence Edna (Holmes) Keiser. He was raised in the South English area and received his education at South English Community School. Following his high school graduation, Darrel continued his education for a semester at Northwestern State College in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Darrel was proud to serve his country in the United States Navy during World War II with his bombing squadron aboard the U.S.S. Lexington. He entered service in May 1942 and served until December 30, 1945, when he was honorably discharged at the rank of Aviation Radioman 2/C (CAC).
On December 4, 1949, Darrel was united in marriage to LaDonna Mae Vaught in Sioux Rapids, Iowa. The couple was blessed with a son, George. Darrel was a farmer and also worked as field supervisor in a food processing plant until his retirement on January 1, 1982.
Darrel was a member of the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. He enjoyed garden and yard work, reading and woodworking. His family was his greatest love, and in his later years, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him great joy. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish Darrel’s memory are his wife of 57 years, LaDonna, of Storm Lake; his son, George, and wife Rosemary of Columbia, Maryland; grandchildren: Angela and her husband Kenneth Gray of Montgomery, Alabama, and Julie and her husband Reginald Staples of Charlotte, North Carolina; great-grandchildren: Allyson and Kathryn Gray; one sister, Minnie Zuber of Houston, Texas; extended family and many friends.
Darrel was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Wilbur and Harold; and one sister, Hazel Earp.
Funeral services for Mr. Keiser will be held on Monday, June 4, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at the Storm Lake United Methodist Church with Reverend Dr. Beverlee Bell officiating. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Friends may call for visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, 2007, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00.
