Paul E. Blair - Aug. 10, 1925 - June 1, 2007
Paul E. Blair, age 81, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Friday, June 1, 2007, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Paul Edward Blair was born August 10, 1925, in Chula, Missouri, to Edward J. and Dorothy (Westlake) Blair. He attended schools in Chula and Chillicothe, Missouri. He graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Chillicothe.
Paul joined the United States Navy at Chillicothe, Missouri, and served his country as a Machinist Mate, 3rd Class. He was honorably discharged on August 10, 1946, at St. Louis, Missouri.
On July 26, 1974, Paul was joined in marriage to Rose A. Faine in Elk Point, South Dakota. They made their home in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Over the years, Paul worked as a forklift driver for HyGrade in Storm Lake. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Storm Lake Elks Club, Lake Creek Country Club and the AMVETS Post 66. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Paul will be missed by family and friends alike.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rose of Storm Lake; son David P. Blair and wife Susan of Omaha, Nebraska; son Richard A. Blair of Lincoln, Nebraska; step-children: Paula A. Roberts (Burns) of Lubbock, Texas; Anthony F. Faine and wife Kathie of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Melodie K. Tate and husband Jim of Fairmont, Minnesota; Dawn M. Andersen and husband John of Weston, Florida; Rick Faine of Storm Lake; and Brenda J. Faine of Sac City, Iowa; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; extended family and many friends.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dorothy Blair; one sister, Laverne Mahr; and one grandson, Andrew Tate.
A memorial mass for Mr. Blair will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake with Reverend Bruce Lawler officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake with full military honors performed by AMVETS Post 66.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2007, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home where there will be a Legion of Mary Rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. The family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Faith, Hope & Charity, Buena Vista Hospice, or St. Mary’s Church.
