Boneta M. Jensen - Feb. 4, 1929 - June 16, 2007

Boneta M. Jensen, age 78, of Newell, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2007, at the Newell Good Samaritan Center.

Bonnie was born on February 4, 1929, in Sac City, Iowa, to Warren and Alice (Larimer) Corderman. She attended country school and graduated from Newell High School. After graduation, Bonnie worked as a nurse’s aid at Swallum Hospital in Storm Lake.

On June 30, 1948, Bonnie married Virgil Jensen in Spencer, Iowa. They made their home on the farm in Newell. They were blessed with three children: Kathy, Kolesa and Bob.

Bonnie was baptized at the Nain Lutheran Church where she remained a lifelong member. In addition, Bonnie was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Red Hatters, Newell Library Board and women of the ELCA. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge, golfing and reading. Bonnie worked part-time at the Newell Good Samaritan Center for fifteen years, and eight years at the high school library.

Bonnie felt fortunate to have her children and their families in the area to enjoy their activities and visits.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Kathy Krogstad and her husband Lynn, Kolesa Kier and husband Steve and Bob Jensen, all of Newell. She is survived by seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, soon to be eight. They include Ryan Krogstad and his wife Trish of Austin, Texas, Chad Krogstad of Madison, Wisconsin, Tabitha DeMay and her husband Ryan of Newell, Amanda Brown and her husband Kenyon of Spencer, Tammy O’Brien and her husband Tim of Burlington, California, Mindy Kier of Newell and Kyle Nielsen of Storm Lake. Also surviving Bonnie are her brother, Russell Corderman and his wife Maxine of Newell; twin sister, Bernie Stoffregen of Sac City; brothers-in-law: Rolan Gibbons and his wife Gwen of Sac City and Merlyn Jensen of Gowrie; sisters-in-law: Velma Corderman of Sun Lake, Arizona, and Eula Peterson and her husband Howard of Newell; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil; two brothers: Morris and Bob Corderman; toddler/younger sister, Virginia; and sister, Betty Gibbons.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am, Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at Nain Lutheran Church in Newell, Iowa, with Pastor Barb Hansen officiating. Burial will be in the Newell Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, June 18, 2007, from 4-8:00 pm at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell where the family will be present to greet friends.
