Vera M. Pressel - June 17, 1915 - June 16, 2006

Vera M. Pressel of Denver, Colorado; Tucson, Arizona; and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Friday, June 16, 2006, at Northwest Medical Center in Tucson.

Vera Maude Vanbuskirk was born June 17, 1915, in Ceylon, Minnesota, to Jesse and Helen (Logan) Van Buskirk. Her family moved to the Galva and Ottosen, Iowa, areas when Vera was young. Following her high school graduation, Vera attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake. Then she taught school for 10 years prior to her marriage.

On December 24, 1942, Vera was united in marriage to Merle “Mac” Claude Pressel. The couple was blessed with six children: Patricia, Pamela, Trudy, Van, Michael and Deborah. Following their marriage, Vera, Mac and their family lived in Storm Lake, Rembrandt and Truesdale, Iowa, before moving to Colorado in 1950. Mac passed on in 1962.

Later in life, Vera began working for the United States Postal Service and continued until her retirement. She enjoyed reading and sewing when she had the time. Vera was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family.

Left to cherish her memory are son Mike Pressel of Tucson, Arizona; daughter Pam Pressel of Denver, Colorado; daughter Trudy Pratt of Fort Collins, Colorado; and daughter Debbie Hedrick of Rush, Colorado; sister Mae Iversen of Storm Lake, Iowa; sister Fae Berninghaus of Minnesota; and sister Jessie Krueger of Mesa, Arizona; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; extended family and a host of friends.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; two children: Patricia Pressel and Van Pressel; and one sister, Dorothy Holt.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 22, 2006, at 1:30 p.m. at Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery at Storm Lake. The Sliefert Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Thursday at Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present.
