Mary Ellen Krummen - Aug. 3, 1918 - Mar. 7, 2010

Mary Ellen Krummen, age 91, of Linn Grove, Iowa, died March 7, 2010, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Mary Ellen (Suzie) Krummen, daughter of Mabel Alspach and Lloyd Odell was born August 3, 1918, in Jenks, Oklahoma. She was baptized at the Methodist Church in Drumright, Oklahoma. Suzie attended Asbury Methodist Church in Warren, Indiana, for many years before she transferred her membership to Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove in 1948.

Growing up, Suzie attended school in Oklahoma for nine years. She moved to Warren, Indiana, and graduated from Chester Center High School in 1935.

On December 14, 1935, Suzie was united in marriage to Arlin C. Krummen at the Methodist Parsonage in Keystone, Indiana. Together they moved to a farm near Linn Grove on August 10, 1948, where they farmed until they retired and moved into town. To this union, six children were born.

Suzie was a full-time homemaker. While raising her family, she maintained a large garden and enjoyed raising chickens and dressing them for her family. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. Her special wish in life was to be a good grandmother to her own and to those who knew her.

Suzie was active and held offices in R.P.W. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Bible School. Suzie received honorary lifetime membership from R.P.W.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Steven (Jennifer) Krummen of Lake Park, Iowa; Jeff (Lory) Krummen of Linn Grove, Iowa; Arlene (Ray) Jaycox of Lake Park, Iowa; Jan Atwell of Red Lodge, Montana; Carol (Richard) Palbicki of Bloomington, Minnesota; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.

Suzie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arlin; her son, Freddie A. Krummen; her granddaughter, Laurie Rae Jaycox.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverside Presbyterian Church in Linn Grove. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 10, 2010, from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids. Burial will be in the Barnes Township Cemetery in Linn Grove. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.
