Gerald V. Geisinger - Mar. 3, 1918 - Nov. 27, 2006

Gerald Vernon Geisinger, age 88, died Monday, November 27, 2006, at the Northshire Nursing Home in Spencer, Iowa.

Gerald Vernon Geisinger was born on March 3, 1918, at Storm Lake, Iowa, to Oren Stanley and Fern Leona (Samsel) Geisinger. He spent his youth and received his education in the Sioux Rapids area, graduating from the Cornell High School in 1935. Gerald worked in California for a short period of time before returning to Iowa where he worked at a service station in Des Moines, Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Alberta June Walquist in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1945 and to this union two children were born: Larry and Cheri. On March 13,1949, Gerald married Helen Jeane Mann and this couple was blessed with five children: Jerri, Oren, Gregory, Michael, and Richard. Throughout his lifetime, Gerald was engaged in farming, operating a restaurant and lounge and pursuing one of his great passions in life and that was selling cars. He not only sold cars in Sioux Rapids but had also worked for Peterson Motors in Storm Lake.

Family meant everything to Gerald. He cherished the times he could spend with them, and he especially enjoyed following the activities of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gerald also had many friends that he enjoyed the company of and they enhanced his life.

Those who will always cherish his memory include his children: Larry (Nancy) Geisinger of Spencer, Iowa; Cheri (Ernie) Lesiter of San Antonio, Texas; Jerri (Tom) Warntjes of Spencer, Iowa; Oren (Kathy) Geisinger of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Greg Geisinger of Hastings, Minnesota; Michael (Peggy) Geisinger of Gilbert, Arizona; Richard (Jackie) Geisinger, Karen (Ron) Becker and Tom Bates, all of Hastings, Minnesota; his grandchildren: Michelle (Corey) Johnson, Sandy (Billy) Tucker, Jennifer (Mick) Straw, Oren Stanley II (Jill) Geisinger, Penny (Bart) Cavanaugh, Alisha (Jason) Berkland, Kasha (Josh) McClay, Josh Geisinger, Derek and Kohl Geisinger, Destiny and Montana Geisinger, Melany and Brian Radke, Mark Becker, Kelli (Chris) Hochstetler, Krista Bates, Stephanie Bronstad, Matt Schuver, Kassey and Cory Eshleman, and James Burgan; 26 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bruce Geisinger of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; one sister, Norma (Don) Anderson of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; other relatives and a host of friends.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jeane; two grandchildren, Bryan Knudtson and Donnie Geisinger; and one sister, Ruth Thompson.
