Marjorie Rehnstrom - Feb. 1, 1910 - Feb. 2, 2005

Marjorie Rehnstrom, age 95, of Amarillo, Texas, and formerly of the Alta, Iowa, area, died Wednesday, February 2, 2005.

Mrs. Rehnstrom was born February 1, 1910, and lived most of her life in Alta. The daughter of E.J. and Lizzie Edwards, she was the granddaughter of pioneer settlers, Samuel and Amelia Parker who were charter members of the Alta Methodist Church. She was the director of the Buena Vista Social Services department for many years, retiring in 1976. She was active in numerous professional and social organizations including La Coterie, Business and Professional Women, and Alta United Methodist Women. She was a life-long member of the Methodist Church. In 1994, Mrs. Rehnstrom moved to Amarillo to live near her daughter and son-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Mildred Edwards and Fae Peterson; husbands Charles Braley, Ivar Johnson and Art Rehnstrom, step-daughter Marjorie Reed, step-son Donald Rehnstrom, and grandson Steven Rehnstrom.

Survivors include her son-in-law and daughter, Bob and Sandi McGinnis of Amarillo, TX, step-son-in-law Byron and Bonnie Reed of Peterson, IA, and step-daughter-in-law, Marilyn Rehnstrom of Spencer, IA. She is also survived by grandchildren and spouses Michael and Suzanne McGinnis of Hamburg, Germany; Marni and Tim Warner of Lake Worth, FL; Mark McGinnis of Chicago, IL; Matthew and Suzanne McGinnis of Austin, TX; Ann Rehnstrom of Des Moines, IA; Jay and Bucky Rehnstrom of Sioux Rapids, IA; Mark and Monica Rehnstrom of Sioux Rapids, IA; Jon and Gayle Reed of Humboldt, IA; Doug Reed of Peterson, IA; Mary Jo and Mike Olthoff of Storm Lake, IA, and 12 great grandchildren. Other survivors include sisters-in-law Nellie Wiley, and Lucille Wambold both of Des Moines, IA, Irene Johnson of Alta, IA; first cousins Parker Adams, and Virginia Bellows of Spencer, IA, Blanch Greenwood, of LaCrescenta, CA; and numerous other family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, February 5, 2005, at 2:00 at the Alta United Methodist Church with Pastor Kathy Kluis officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Alta. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church for one hour prior to the funeral services.
