Earl Naslund - Mar. 16, 1930 - Feb. 9, 2005

Earl Naslund, age 74, of Galva, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 9, 2005, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Earl Naslund was born March 16, 1930, to Clarence L. and Agnes J. (Johnson) Naslund in Storm Lake, Iowa. He was baptized in Truesdale, Iowa, where he lived with his family until he was 8 years old. The family then moved to Galva where Earl completed his education, graduating with the class of 1948 from Galva High School.

Earl was confirmed in the United Methodist Church in Galva where he has been very involved in all the areas of service to his congregation including time as Sunday School Superintendent and teaching people of all ages for over 50 years.

On March 11, 1952, Earl was inducted into the United States Marine Corps where he served his country with pride until he was honorably discharged on March 2, 1954, at the rank of Corporal.

Earl was united in marriage to Lola Hansen on June 1, 1952, at the Galva Methodist Church. Their marriage was blessed with two sons: Doug and Jeff, and three daughters: Loveé and Raneé, and Michelle. Earl loved the land and farming, so he and Lola lived on their farm near Schaller for much of their married life before moving into Galva. Earl also spent countless hours caring for his Gelbvieh cow/calf herd. He was a past president of the Iowa Gelbvieh Association.

Earl gave back much to his community, serving as President of the Schaller School Board, President of the AgLand Coop Board of Directors and a 4-H Leader. He was a member of Eastern Star and served as Worshipful Master of ACNE Masonic Lodge, Schaller.

Earl loved life and lived every moment to its fullest. He liked birds and all things in nature. He was a happy man, and you could often hear laughter where he was present. He was a loving husband and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather who treasured and especially enjoyed his entire family. His legacy and gifts will live on in all who loved and cherished him.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of more than 52 years, Lola of Galva; sons Doug and wife Sharon Naslund of Pueblo, Colorado, and Jeff and wife Lisa Naslund of Galva; twin daughters, Loveé and husband Dominic Giannangeli of Lincoln University, Pennsylvania, Raneé and husband Bill Schouviller of Minnetonka, Minnesota, and daughter Michelle Anderson and fiancé Roger Trimble of Alta, Iowa; grandchildren Michael and David Vansant, Christopher Naslund, Tiffany and Tony Giannangeli, Matthew and Caitlin Schouviller Lee and Lance Anderson, Krystal, Dillion and Shelveé Naslund; great-grandchild Rocco Giannangeli; brother Jay and wife Lila Naslund of Waxahachie, Texas, sister Erma Kyle of Madison, Wisconsin; and a host of other family and friends.
