Richard D. Hussey - Mar. 1, 1944 - July 30, 2005

Richard “Dick” Hussey, age 61, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died at his home in rural Storm Lake, Iowa, on Saturday, July 30, 2005.

Richard Donald Hussey was born March 1, 1944, in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Donald and Virginia (Burkhart) Hussey. He was baptized into the Methodist Church as a child. He grew up in his parents’ home near Cherokee, attending grade school in Cherokee until he was 12. His family moved to Storm Lake in 1956, and Dick completed his high school there, graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1962. In 1965, Dick joined the Storm Lake National Guard, serving his country in that capacity until he was honorably discharged in 1972.

On May 4, 1969, Dick was united in marriage to Donna Hansen. To this union three children were born: Steve, Kris and Kim.

Dick worked for Tyson in Cherokee since 1965. During his spare time, he enjoyed fixing old cars, fishing, and fixing up old houses.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna from Storm Lake; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Don Hussey; three children: Steve Hussey and his wife Amber of Sioux Rapids, Kris Pearson and her husband Matt of Storm Lake, and Kim Hussey of Storm Lake; one grandson, Kile Hussey of Sioux Rapids; sister Pat Fisher and her husband Dennis of Lakeside; as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his grandparents: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hussey and Mr. & Mrs. A.C. Burkhart.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at 2:00 pm at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa. Don Agostine of Marcus, Iowa, will officiate. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call from 1:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where family will greet friends from 4-7:00 pm.
