Mayta Andersen - June 10, 1914 - July 27, 2005

Mayta Andersen, age 91, of Newell, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at Newell Good Samaritan Center.

Mayta Pauline Andersen was born June 10, 1914, the oldest child of Bendt and Helena (Kladstrup) Andersen. She was baptized and confirmed at Nain Lutheran Church in Newell and was a lifelong member of the church.

Mayta graduated from Newell High School in 1932. She worked for many years in the Petersen Store in Newell and later was a clerk in the Newell Post Office. She resided in the Maple View Apartments and the past few years at the Good Samaritan Home in Newell.

She was a member of Eastern Star and was a member of E.L.C.A. Ladies Group at the church. She enjoyed traveling, having taken two trips to Europe. She spent several winters in Weslaco, Texas, and the summers in her home at Twin Lakes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Weldon and his wife Erma; and a brother-in-law, Ejner Grau.

Left to mourn her passing are her sister, Maxine Grau; a niece, Sheila Sliefert and her husband Gaylord; a nephew David Andersen and wife Jennifer; great-nieces Dawn Malloch, Lorie Sliefert, Elise Andersen; great-nephews Kris Andersen and Michael Sliefert; and great-great-nieces Amanda and Alaina Sliefert.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday August 1, 2005, at Nain Lutheran Church in Newell. Burial will be in Newell City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell.

Friends may call on Sunday July 31, 2005, from 6 till 8 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell where the family will be present.
