Marjorie G. Lyman - June 25, 1935 - July 31, 2005

Marjorie Grace Lyman, age 70, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.

Marjorie was born June 25, 1935, to Andrew Adolph Adamsen and Hazel Monk in Correctionville, Iowa. Her family moved to the Storm Lake area and Marge graduated from Hayes Consolidated School in 1953.

On November 15, 1953, Marge was united in marriage to Robert Duane Lyman at the Methodist Church in Newell, Iowa. Their union was blessed with six children: Mardel, Mitchel, Mary Lou, Michael, Merlin and Mark. In addition to making a warm and comfortable home for her family, Marge also, for a time, was a restaurant owner until she retired in March of 2000. She was a member of the Storm Lake United Methodist Church.

Marge enjoyed dining out, casino trips and participating in her card club. She loved the companionship she shared with her dear friend Lyle Peters. Above all, Marge loved her family and treasured the time she spent with them. She enjoyed simple times together, the holidays and special events, as well as traveling to visit her family members. Her presence will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her treasured companion Lyle Peters of Storm Lake; her children: Mardel (Bernie) Gutz of Belleville, Illinois, Mitchel (Lauri) Lyman of Newell, Iowa, Mary Lou (Kerry) Herzog of Guttenburg, Iowa, Michael (Joan) Lyman of Chandler, Arizona, Merlin (Mary Beth) Lyman of Shiloh, Illinois, and Mark (Diane) Lyman of Cedar Falls, Iowa; grandchildren: Brandon (Heidi) Hout of Waterloo, Iowa, Brenda (Jay) Zietler of Milton, Iowa, Mandy (Brad) Mahler of Newell, Iowa, Anthony Lyman of Mesa, Arizona, Brian Hout, currently stationed in Pusan, South Korea, Shane Lyman of Meadowbrooke, Illinois, Justin (Ginger) Lyman of Norwalk, Iowa, Misty Lyman and Candi Lyman of Mesa, Arizona, Shanda Lyman of Mascoutah, Illinois, Robert Lyman of Phoenix, Arizona, Jeff Bonham of Shiloh, Illinois, Rachel Lyman and Rebecca Lyman of Cedar Falls, Iowa; great-grandchildren: Chloe Lyman, Hailey Lyman, Dakota Pinchera, J.R. Zietler, Carson Zietler, Aden Mahler, Treyton Mahler and Nevaeh Lyman; brothers: Alan (Wanda) Adamsen of Lake Havasu, Arizona, Aaron (Sandie) Adamsen of North Whittier, California, Austin (Cathy) Adamsen of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Arnie (Pat) Adamsen of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters: Andre Adamsen of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Mary Jo (Don) Roggatz of Correctionville, Iowa; and many other family members and a host of friends.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Lyman; her mother, Hazel Monk; her father Andrew Adamsen; brother Arlen; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dean and Helen Lyman.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 4, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Newell Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2005, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Newell where family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
