The family moved to Iowa during her pre-school years and she attended school at Cherokee, and Clarinda, graduating from Clarinda High School in 1929 and in 1933 from The University of Michigan with a degree in Education. She taught school for four years in Greenfield, Iowa, and for two years in Ames and then married Dr. Shea.

They spent a year in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, while he was interning there. Then when he entered the Army, they moved to Carmel, California, until he went overseas in April 1943, when she returned to the Midwest to live with her parents in Tarkio, Missouri.

Alice gave birth to a girl, Patricia, in November 1943.

When Dr. Shea returned to the States in 1945, she joined him in Brigham, Utah, at The Bushnell General Hospital while he recovered from an illness resulting from his Army service in the Pacific.

In 1946, they settled in Storm Lake where she lived until she passed away on July 29, 2004.

Alice gave birth to another girl, Susan, in February 1948 and to a third girl, Jean Ann in December of 1949.

Her first priority was always her family, which she cared for with the greatest kind of loving devotion, patience and wisdom. She was a capable community volunteer and was a faithful worker in the following organizations: Presbyterian Church, Chapter EP, PEO, Questors, PTA, Cosmopolitan Club and Ingleside and countless hours with the BVRMC Auxillary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Mary Aline Veline; and one niece, Nancy Veline.
