Jenice (Willcutt) Sanders - Mar. 14, 1931 - Nov. 1, 2004
Jenice (Willcutt) Sanders, age 73, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away November 1, 2004.
Jenice was born to Everett and Letha (Saunders) Willcutt on March 14, 1931, in Storm Lake, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Jenice graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1949 and attended the University of Northern Iowa at Cedar Falls, Iowa. Jenice was a born teacher and started her career at Sulphur Springs, Iowa. In 1955, having moved to Fargo North Dakota, she continued teaching for 40 years in the Fargo Public Schools and Sunday School at the Fargo Methodist Church.
On June 3, 1951, Jenice was married to Bud Sanders at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Bud passed away in 1995 and in 2000, Jenice moved from Fargo to Mesa, Arizona.
Her retirement years were filled with travel and adventures with her loving partner, Ron Petersen of Mesa as well as swimming and socializing with her cousin, Donna Bell and friends and neighbors in Country Club Estates. Jenice will be greatly missed by countless friends to whom were sent birthday cards each year—the dates were written in her original birthday book and kept since her youth.
She is survived by daughter Liz, son-in-law Rich, and granddaughters Maggie and Kate of Northbrook, Illinois; daughter Becca, son-in-law Jon and grandson Henry of St. Paul, Minnesota; and her brother, Bob, sister-in-law Ann and their three children of Manchester, Massachusetts.
Jenice was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A memorial gathering of family and friends was held at Melcker Mission Chapel in Mesa on Friday, November 5, 2004.
Graveside Services will be Saturday, November 13, at 11:00 a.m. in Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake with Reverend Duane Queen officiating. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, Jenice’s family has established a memorial fund in her name.
