Mildred Demers, age 86, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Saturday, January 23, 2010, at Lake View Manor in Storm Lake.
Mildred Minnie Ploeger was born on June 13, 1923, in Schaller, Iowa, to Frederick and Amelia (Luelf) Ploeger. She attended country school in rural Schaller. As a child, Mildred was baptized and later confirmed at Immanuel Reformed Church in rural Schaller, Iowa.
On May 1, 1943, Mildred was united in marriage to William John Demers in Fonda, Iowa. This couple was blessed with four children: Susan, Sandra, Steven and Scott.
Mildred was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Storm Lake. She enjoyed Bible Study and spending time playing cards and games with her family and friends. Family was a very important part of Mildred’s life and she took a special interest in their lives.
Those who will cherish Mildred’s memory are her four children: Susan Ferrin of Storm Lake, Iowa; Sandra Demers of Storm Lake, Iowa; Steven (Kathy) Demers of Allendale, Michigan; Scott (Sandra) Demers of Lakeside, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Adam (Addie) Ferrin of Alta, Iowa; Chad (Toni) Demers of Allendale, Michigan; Michelle (Jeff) Janssen of Allendale, Michigan; Trisha (Kevin) Vogt of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Michael (Candice) Demers of Chicago, Illinois; Erica (Justin) McAtee of Lakeside, Iowa; Angela (David) Moffatt of Storm Lake, Iowa; fifteen great grandchildren: Grace, Faith, Eden, Samuel, William, Isaac, Gabriella, Ardis, Thomas, Alexis, Keeley, Dardice, Cole, Ava and Isabella; one brother and his wife: Chester (Grace) Ploeger of Garner, Iowa; one sister, Evelyn Currie of Storm Lake, Iowa; three sisters-in-law: Marlys Demers of Lake View, Iowa; Mardelle Ploeger of Sioux Center, Iowa; Ann Fleishman of Omaha, Nebraska; extended family and many friends.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; brothers: Ivan (Genevieve) Ploeger, Everett (Verna) Ploeger, Lester Ploeger; sister, Opal (Lyle) Langner; brothers-in-law: Wilbur Currie and Richard Demers.
Visitation: 4-8:00 p.m. January 26, 2010, at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, Iowa
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. January 27, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa
