Anna Sump - Oct. 3, 1914 - Mar. 1 2003

Anna Louise Lizzie Alvine (Franzmeier) Sump was born on October 3, 1914, to Rudolf and Bertha (Hoberman) Franzmeier, on their farm eight miles north of Newell. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and attended Zion Lutheran Parochial School. She then helped her parents and neighbors with baking, cleaning, etc. On December 17, 1944, she married Eldor Sump of Clarinda at Zion Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with three daughters: Judith Ann, Jean Marie, and Janet Kay. Anna and Eldor lived on their farm southwest of Albert City until their retirement in the Fall of 1975 when they moved to town.

In her early years, Anna sang in the church choir. She was a member of Ladies Aid, enjoyed embroidery work, mending clothes and playing cards. When her grandchildren came home from college, she made sure they had fresh chocolate chip cookies to take back with them. She always looked forward to spending time with her children, grandchildren and her little great-grandson, Alex, and was eagerly waiting the arrival of two new great-grandchildren.

She was a devoted wife taking care of Eldor in their home until they moved into the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City on December 30, 2002. This past December, they celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Anna passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2003, at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City of a brain tumor and stroke.
