Thomas J. Jones - Dec. 14, 1944 - May 16, 2005

Thomas J. Jones, age 60, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Monday, May 16, 2005 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Thomas John Jones was born December 14, 1944 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota to Cecil George and Lucille Irene (Woodford) Jones. He spent his childhood and attended school in Redwood Falls, Minnesota.

On June 10, 1967, Tom was united in marriage to Carol Jean Hefti in Florence, Minnesota. They were blessed with two children, Terry and Carey. Tom worked at Wunder Tire, Merrill Manufacturing, Hy-Grade and Tyson Foods. He was with the Tyson plant for 20 years. He was a faithful member and deacon of the Storm Lake Church of Christ, baptized in February 1969. Tom also served his community as a member of the Storm Lake Fire Department from November 19, 1968 to October 14, 1980.

Tom enjoyed hunting, gardening and anything to do with cars, but his greatest love was his family. He was a loving husband and a devoted father and grandfather who treasured every moment he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be missed every day.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 38 years, Carol of Storm Lake; his son, Terry and wife Kirsten Jones of Storm Lake; his daughter, Carey and husband Shad Wachal of Jackson, Minnesota; grandchildren: Tommy Lee Jones, Cody Lee Jones and Lindsay Nicole Wachal, as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Lucille Jones; brothers: George Jones and Gene Jones; niece Christine Jones; and great niece, Shanda.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2005 at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake, with Pastor Jack Barber officiating. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at the Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
