Nina Crane - Aug. 16, 1920 - Aug. 27, 2005

Nina (Wagner) Crane, age 85, of Pocahontas, Iowa, died Saturday, August 27, 2005 at her home.

Nina was born August 16, 1920 in Storm Lake, Iowa the daughter of Nick and Eva (Rausch) Wagner. Nina spent her youth in Storm Lake, attending school there and graduating from Storm Lake High School.

On August 17, 1938, Nina was united in marriage to Howard Crane. Their union was blessed with two daughters, Donna and Cyndy, and a son, Rodney.

Nina loved her family and enjoyed making a warm and comfortable home for them. She also worked at Ben Franklin in Storm Lake and at Casey’s in Pocahontas, each job for many years. She retired in August of 1987. In her spare moments, Nina liked to garden; flowers were her favorite crop. Her family was always her priority and she treasured the time she could spend with them. Her caring presence will be missed daily.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Donna and husband Tom Combes of Rembrandt, Iowa; and Cyndy and husband Ron Fetrow of Pocahontas. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kim and wife Diane Combes, Kent and wife Lori Combes, Kris Combes, Dawn and husband Kevin Ahrendsen, Melanie and husband Kyle Bethune and Mike and wife Jill Fetrow; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

Nina was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Crane; her son, Rodney Crane; grandson Kelly; sister Velma North; and two brothers: Archie Wagner and Guy Wagner.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, August 31, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. at Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, with Reverend Durwood Clauson officiating. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation with the family present will be from 12:00 noon until service time on Wednesday at the Sliefert Funeral Home Chapel in Sioux Rapids.
