Tina L. Young - Feb. 10, 1956 - June 1, 2008

Tina L. Young, age 52, of Galva, Iowa, died on Sunday, June 1, 2008, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center at Storm Lake, Iowa.

Tina Louise Willeford, the daughter of R.W. and Shirley (Ensley) Willeford, was born at Sioux Rapids, Iowa, on February 10, 1956. Tina lived her youth and received her education in the Sioux Rapids and Storm Lake communities.

On September 10, 1982, Tina was united in marriage to Brian Young at the Galva United Methodist Church and together they were privileged to raise three sons: Adam, Aric, and Barry. Tina was not raised on a farm but she enjoyed working along side Brian in their farming operation near Galva. She assisted with raising hogs and cattle, enjoyed driving tractor and helping with the harvest. Tina took pride in keeping the building sites painted and maintained and spent many hours mowing on their farmstead.

Tina was very gifted in doing all types of crafts. She crocheted many baby blankets, did artwork on plastic canvas, weaved yarn on lawn chairs, and did decoupage pictures. Tina had a very generous and giving heart and gave to others the crafts that she made. She had a deep and abiding love for her family and she cherished the times she could spend with her husband and sons and remembering the vacations they took together. Tina’s granddaughter, Cassidy, and her mother, Shannon, held a special place in her heart and she loved spending time and communicating with them. Tina had served as a Cub Scout Den mother for nine years and enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair, playing bingo, fishing, and socializing with her friends and family. Tina was a member of the Summit Evangelical Free Church of Alta where she used her talents in assisting with the Power Point presentation during the worship services and programs.

Those who are grateful for having shared in Tina’s life include her husband of 25 years, Brian, of Galva; her two sons: Aric of Ida Grove, Iowa and Barry of Galva; her granddaughter, Cassidy, Cassidy’s mom, Shannon, and Grandpa Sherrard, all of Des Moines, Iowa; Tina’s four brothers: John Willeford and his special friend, Sheryl, of Blue Rapids, Kansas; Bill Willeford and his special friend, Peggy Rench, of Alta, Iowa; Dennis and Dana Willeford of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Art Willeford of Spencer, Iowa; three sisters: Mary and Jim Klatt of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; Linda and Steve Hendrick of Arnolds Park, Iowa; and Penny Lee and her special friend, Craig Peters, of Storm Lake, Iowa; her father– and mother-in-law, James and Carolyn Young of Galva; her loving and supportive cousins, Glenda and Tom Struve of Rembrandt, Iowa; other relatives and a host of friends.

Tina was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Adam; and a special uncle, Don Ensley.

Throughout her battle with cancer, the hope, peace, and joy that Tina exemplified on a daily basis is a lasting testimony of her deep and abiding faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. “For to me, to live is Christ, to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21
