Margery K. Johnson - Sept. 27, 1943 - July 19, 2008

Margery K. Johnson, age 64, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at her home in Sioux Rapids.

Margery Kay Van Zee, the daughter of Edison and Audrey (Amos) Van Zee was born at Lacona, Iowa, on September 27, 1943. She was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist faith at the Lacona United Methodist Church. Marge was a 1961 graduate of the Southeast Warren High School.

Marge was united in marriage to William Johnson on June 1, 1976, at Omaha, Nebraska, and this couple was blessed with two children: Jyl and Cale. Following their marriage, Bill and Marge resided at Des Moines and Armstrong, Iowa, before coming to make their home in Sioux Rapids in 1986. During the time that they have lived in Sioux Rapids, Marge has operated her own housecleaning business.

Marge’s special interests included golfing, decorating, flowers and feeding the birds. She thoroughly enjoyed the times she shared with her many friends and especially with her family. Marge was a member of several businesswomen clubs including the “Chicks” and the BPW Club, of which she had been treasurer.

Those who will always love and cherish her memory include her husband of 32 years, Bill, of Sioux Rapids; her children: Jyl and Chad DeJong of Knoxville, Iowa and Cale Johnson of Sioux Rapids, Iowa; her three grandchildren: Luka, Kolton, and Brody DeJong, all of Knoxville,Iowa; her three brothers: Marvin and Judy Van Zee of Salem, Oregon; Melvin Van Zee of Des Moines, Iowa; and Gerald Van Zee of Clive, Iowa; her sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Larry Reams of Council Bluffs, Iowa; other relatives and a host of friends.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services for Mrs. Johnson will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the First United Church of Sioux Rapids. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Liberty Township Cemetery at Liberty Center, Iowa. A time of visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the start of the services on Wednesday. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements.

May the blessed memory of Margery Kay Johnson continue to be lived out through her family and friends.
