Marie Emanuel - Oct. 1, 1921 - Apr. 6, 2009

Marie Emilie (Mammen) Emanuel, 87, of Middletown, New York and formerly of Manson, Iowa, passed away April 6, 2009, at the Orange Regional Medical Center, Arden Hill campus, Goshen, New York.

Born October 1, 1921, near Palmer, Iowa, to William Frederick Mammen and Juliane Maria (Cirks) Mammen, she married the late Dr. Jack Howard Emanuel on June 2, 1946, at Manson, Iowa. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before he passed away June 25, 1996. She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Marie was a loving wife, caring mother and devoted grandmother. Survivors include her son and wife, Stephen J. Emanuel and Selena Lyons Emanuel of Poughquag, New York; her daughter and husband, Linda M. Emanuel and Carl S. Berkowitz of Middletown, New York; her sister, Ileen M. Yoder of Denver, Colorado; and her four grandchildren: Lindsey, Drew, Kelsi and Jeremy. She was predeceased by her two brothers, John H. Mammen and Harold W. Mammen.

Graveside services for Mrs. Emanuel will be held Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Storm Lake Cemetery. Rev. Jerry E. Oakland will be officiating. The Sliefert Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation.
