Adelean Youngberg -

Adelean Youngberg, age 78, of Albert City, Iowa, died on Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Pocahontas Manor Care Center in Pocahontas, Iowa.

Adelean Ingeborg Youngberg, the daughter of Carl Oscar and Hildur Emelia (Anderson) Youngberg, was born at her parents’ farm in Elmore Township, Faribault County, Blue Earth, Minnesota, on April 21, 1930. She began her education in a country school near her farm home and attended that school until moving to her mother’s parental farm home near Albert City, Iowa, when Adelean was in the fourth grade. Adelean completed her education at the Albert City High School from which she graduated in 1948. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior in her early teen years and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

Adelean assisted her parents in the home and she was also actively engaged in the farming operation. She later purchased an 80-acre farm adjacent to her mother’s farm. Carl died in March of 1965 and Adelean continued to assist her mother with the farm management. Following her mother’s death, Adelean accepted full responsibility for the management of the farm. She was a member of the Farm Bureau. On January 7, 2004, she entered the Pocahontas Manor Care Center, where she made her home until the time of her death.

Adelean was an active member of the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Albert City. She had been a Sunday School teacher for the kindergarten and first grade classes for 10 years and also served as the Sunday School teachers’ secretary. She was member of the Young Women’s Missionary Society, which later became the Evening Missionary Society, in which she was a devotional leader. Adelean was the church’s assistant librarian until March of 1965.

Adelean had many varied interests which included reading, attending church related services and activities, history, embroidering, scrapbooking, and car rides surveying the countryside. She was also a collector of various items such as bears, coins (especially state quarters), stamps, postmarks, stationery, and address labels.

Her life and memories will be honored and celebrated by her cousins, second cousins, other extended family, and her many friends in the Albert City area.

Adelean was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents, an infant brother, uncles, aunts, and other family members.

Services will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church at Albert City. Interment will be in East Chain Evangelical Free Church Cemetery in East Chain, Minnesota.

Visitation will take place at the church for one hour prior to the start of the service on Thursday.
