Wendell H. Tutt, age 93, of Marathon, Iowa, died on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at Pleasant View Home in Albert City, Iowa.

Wendell Howard Tutt, the son of George and Ida Mary (Partridge) Tutt, was born on the family farm near Marathon, Iowa, on March 14, 1915. He received his education at the Marathon school and lived his youth on the farm. Wendell began his farming vocation at the age of 15 following the death of his father.

In addition to being a farmer, Wendell was engaged in many other aspects of agriculture including doing custom farm work, custom wood sawing, corn shelling, baling, and various types of repairs and welding. After a rewarding career in farming, Wendell retired in 1990. He was an active participant in the Albert City Threshermen and Collectors Show and looked forward to those festivities each year. Wendell was a collector of antique tractors and cars and was proud of his 28-foot trailer that he used to transport his tractors. He was also talented at woodworking and built many birdhouses, picnic tables and park benches. Two other special interests of Wendell’s were photography and planting trees.

Those who will always fondly remember Wendell include his two nieces: Katherine Miller of Gilbert, Iowa; and Shirley Tutt of Spencer, Iowa; his many great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of friends.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents and his only brother, Earl G. Tutt.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Marathon, Iowa. Interment will be in Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon.
