Frank Koth - Mar. 19, 1933 - May 15, 2009
Frank Koth, age 76, of Schaller, Iowa died Friday, May 15, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Franklin J. Koth was born on March 19, 1933, in Galva, Iowa, the son of Fred and Louise (Peters) Koth. He was baptized into the Christian faith at St. John Lutheran Church in Hanover, Iowa in 1933, where he confirmed his faith in 1948. Frank later transferred his membership to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller, Iowa, where he served as a trustee and an usher, as well as, president and vice president of the stain glass window committee.
As a child, Frank attended Hanover Lutheran grade school. His education continued at Galva High School, graduating with the Class of 1952.
On October 1, 1956, Frank and Jean Adukinas were united in marriage in Washington, D.C. The couple was blessed with one daughter, Dana Lee. Frank was a member of the Army under the Company D-85th Infantry and served in the Korean War until he was discharged in December of 1961. Frank made his living at Byron Originals, as a machinist, and driving truck. In January 2003, Frank’s beloved wife Jean passed away. He later married Darlene Wright on September 10, 2005 at the Schaller Methodist Church.
Frank’s family was always his first priority. He loved spending coffee time with family and friends. His woodworking projects became some of his proudest accomplishments. Frank enjoyed bowling but his passion was fishing. He especially cherished the many fishing trips he took to Canada. Frank will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Darlene A. Wright of Schaller; his son-in-law, Dennis Steil of Eagle Grove, Iowa; his step children: Judy (Ted) Wall of Schaller and Jan (Willie) Lang of Storm Lake, Iowa; his step-grandchildren: Derek Wall of Schaller; Shannon Sutton of Alta, Iowa; Shayla (Steve) Lange of Storm Lake; his great grandchildren: Zackery and Hailey Sutton of Alta: his brother, Marlin (Ada) Koth of Gilroy, California; his three sisters: Gladys Lillie of DeWitt, Iowa; Malinda (Franklin) Thies of Iowa Falls, Iowa; Delores Troyer of New Paris, Indiana; his sisters-in-law: Verona Koth of Galva and Mavis Koth of Minnesota; extended family and many friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Jean; his daughter Dana Lee (Koth) Steil; his brothers: Arnold, Harlan, Wilbert “Butch” and Fred Jr.; his sisters: Bernice Koth and Luetta (Robert) Prescott; his brothers-in-law: Glen Lillie and LaMar Troyer.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller. Burial will be in the Schaller Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Schaller is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller.
