Lynn Julon Nehring, the son of August William and Doris Myrtle Pauline (Lindgren) Nehring, was born on July 29, 1933, at the family farm near Albert City. Lynn was baptized on Aug. 12, 1933, at the Ljunghed Lutheran Church (Our Saviors Lutheran Church) in Albert City by Pastor Linus A. Herman. He began his education at the Lincoln-Lee Consolidated School at the age of five. Lynn's father died on Sept. 23, 1944, and Lynn and his family moved into the town of Albert City. On May 25, 1947, Lynn was confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert City by Pastor August P. Lawrence. He graduated from the Albert City High School on May 17, 1950. Following graduation, Lynn worked at Superior Manufacturing.

On March 1, 1951, the family moved back to their farm and it was on July 11, 1956, that Lynn entered the United States Army to serve his country. He was stationed in Inchon, Korea, and served with the Eighth Army's Transportation section. He received his good conduct award for his exemplary behavior and efficiency in Seoul, Korea. Lynn received his honorable discharge on April 25, 1958. On March 1, 1961, Lynn rented a farm near Marathon from Everett and Genora Caskey, which he farmed for 46 years.

Lynn was united in marriage to Janice Marie Hovinga at the Webb Baptist Church on March 18, 1962, and this couple was blessed with three sons: Raymond Lynn, Roger Jay, and Craig Allen. In addition to the farm near Marathon, Lynn and Janice purchased the Nehring family farm in 1976 and farmed that land also.

Lynn was a member of the Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Albert City. He had a life long passion for his farming vocation and working the land. Lynn's family was the central part of his life and he cherished the time he could spend with them, especially his grandchildren. When he wasn't farming, Lynn enjoyed fishing and operating the train at the elevator.

Lynn's life will always be honored and treasured by his wife, Janice of Albert City; his children: Raymond (Angie) Nehring of Laurens, and Craig (Rosalinda) Nehring of Albert City; his grandchildren: Becky and Tim Stoll and Lisa and Lucas Dailey, all of Des Moines, Ashley, Justin, Jasmine, and Julon Nehring, of Albert City; his sister-in-law, Judy Nehring of Reinbeck; two nieces, Rev. Dr. Arlene K. Nehring of Hayward, Calif. and Marlene (Dennis) Schwerin of Gentry, Ark.; other nieces and nephews that he dearly loved, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, August Nehring; his mother, Doris Nehring Russell; his father, Earl C. Russell; his son, Roger Jay in 1965; and one brother, Lance August Nehring in 1975.
