Betty (Oleson) Eddie, age 61, of Gilbert, Ariz., formerly of Storm Lake, passed away on Nov. 6 at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Ariz., after a lengthy battle with valley fever and pneumonia. Funeral services were held Nov. 10 at the Gilbert Presbyterian Church.

Betty graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1966, and later that year married Darrell Eddie. Betty worked for the Buena Vista County Hospital, Security Trust & Savings Bank, Otto & Culver Engineering, and Glen Huntington, Architect, until the family moved to the Phoenix, Ariz. area in the summer of 1985. While there, she worked for the Sun Angel Foundation and later Paramount Leisure.

Survivors include her husband, Darrell Eddie, daughter Trudy Whitsel, both of Gilbert, Ariz.; son Travis Eddie and wife Machelle of Harlan; grandchildren Ridge, Courtney, Logan and Ian Whitsel, her mother Stella Oleson of Hawarden (formerly of Storm Lake); sisters June Oleson of Sioux City, Deloris Born of Mapleton, Minn.; brothers Eugene Oleson of New York City, and Rodney Oleson of Hawarden; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Dean and Mary Eddie, Roger and Marlene Eddie, Russell and Gladys Eddie, all of Storm Lake and numerous nephews and nieces.

Preceding Betty in death was her father, Kenneth Oleson of Storm Lake. Condolences may be sent to Darrell Eddie and Family, 1434 South Sandstone St., Gilbert, AZ., 85296-4369.
