Arthur T. Jacobsen, Jr., 72, of Independence and formerly of Oelwein, Iowa died Friday morning, July 21, 2017 at his home.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein.
Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Monday and after 9:30 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.

Arthur was born on December 1, 1944 in Oelwein, the son of Art and Margaret(Hall)Jacobsen. He married Dawn Strong at the Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein on December 5, 1963. He was employed with Strang Tire just out of school, and then worked at Speedy Manufacturing/United Farm Tools, Oelwein as a Supervisor for over 20 years. After they closed, he was employed with Bloom Manufacturing, Jesup for 17 years retiring in December, 2015.

Arthur and Dawn also owned and operated Dawn’s Bloomers in Independence for 19 years specializing in Hosta’s and perennials. He enjoyed the outdoors, his Hosta’s, fishing, vacationing and listening to Elvis.

Arthur is survived by his wife: Dawn, of Independence; two children: Kenneth Jacobsen of Independence and Lori(Jeff Gibson)Smith of Independence; one brother: Donnie Jacobsen, Marseilles,Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters: Mary Ann(Jacobsen)Smith and Karen Parks.
