Lloyd Stohr, 84, of Hazleton, Iowa died Wednesday morning, July 4, 2018 at Maple Crest Manor in Fayette, Iowa.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein with Rev. Allen Biere officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday and for one hour before the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Interment: Hazleton (Fontana) Cemetery, Hazleton with military honors.

Memorial Fund: Unity Point Hospice, Waterloo.

Milo Lloyd Stohr was born March 18, 1934 in Independence, Iowa, the son of Milo Henry and Ellamae(Lotts)Stohr. He attended Coytown School, rural Hazleton and continued his education at Hazleton High School. Lloyd was united in marriage to Della Joyce Duckett on November 14, 1955 at Fort Smith, Arkansas by Rev. Robert Small. Lloyd proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1955 to 1957.

Lloyd farmed in the Hazleton area until he retired in 2010. He lived on the farm until April 2018 when he moved to Maple Crest Manor in Fayette. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Hazleton. He also was a former member of the Aurora American Legion, the Hazleton Masonic Lodge and the Buchanan County Cattleman’s Association. Lloyd was awarded the Buchanan County Cattleman of the Year Award in 1997. He really enjoyed country music, farming and his Black Angus cattle, topping the sale several times at the Manchester Sale Barn. Lloyd was able to participate in an honor flight to Washington, D.C. with his grandson, Derrick Murphy.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 62 years: Della Stohr of Hazleton; daughter: LuAnn(Danny)Murphy of Hazleton; 3 grandchildren: Amy(Jamie)Recker, Brenda(Benji)Michels and Derrick Murphy; 3 great grandchildren: Elizabeth and Jason Recker and Braden Michels; brother: Larry(Pat)Stohr of Oelwein and a very special daughter-in-law: Colleen Stohr of Oelwein.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Donald on December 12, 2016; and 1 sister: Linda Duffy-Passmore.
