Young Woman Kills Her Father During Family Quarrel.
At the coronerís inquest to investigate the circumstances currounding{sic} the shooting of Fremont Fleming, a farmer living one mile north of Winthrop, in Buchanan county, the jury returned a verdict finding that Fleming came to his death from a bullet wound inflicted by a 22-caliber rifle in the hands of his daughter, Maude Fleming, during a family quarrel.
Miss Fleming, who is twenty-four years old, was arrested on a charge of manslaughter and held to the action of the grand jury in $5,000 bonds, which was furnished by her mother.
The young lady claims that she acted in defense of her mother and that her father was menacing her motherís life when she grabbed the rifle, which she says she thought was not loaded, and pointed it at him for the purpose of intimidating him.

Transcriberís Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Fremont Township Cemetery in Winthrop and that he was born December 5, 1856 and died May 10, 1908.
