LaVelle Riechers, 79, of Aurora, Iowa died Wednesday afternoon, October 25, 2017 at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters in Oelwein, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 3:00 P.M. Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Grace United Methodist Church in Lamont with Pastor Raelonna Patrick officiating. Visitation: 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. Saturday at the church in Lamont.
Interment: Union Cemetery, Putnam Township, Aurora. The Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein is assisting the family.LaVelle Hillman was born May 18, 1938, at Oelwein, the daughter of Samuel N. and Vyvienne (Destival) Hillman. She graduated from Hazleton High School. On March 1, 1958, she was united in marriage to Robert William Riechers at Oelwein. LaVelle was employed for a few years as a telephone operator. She was a devoted homemaker, helping Bob on the farm. LaVelle was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lamont and several bowling leagues. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, jigsaw puzzles, reading, her dogs and most of all her grandchildren.
LaVelle is survived by her husband, Bob Riechers of Aurora; 3 children: Randy (Lynn) Riechers of Hazleton, Ron (Kathy) Riechers of Lamont and Raynelle (Jim) Burr of Guttenberg; 6 grandchildren: Ryan (Julie) Riechers, Jodi (Mike Robinson) Riechers, Shane Burr, Janelle Burr, Braden Burr and Ian Burr; 4 great grandchildren: Skyler Jaster, Tiffany Riechers, Whitney Riechers and Ross Riechers; 2 sisters: Becky Bayness of LaPorte City and Joyce Stille of Storm Lake; brother: Gary Hillman of Mason City; sister-in-law: Florine Hillman of Oelwein; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: LaVerle “Ed” Hillman; sister: Emma Lou Schoentag; sister-in-law: Nancy Hillman; and 3 brothers-in-law: Don Schoentag, Dwayne Stille and Rod Bayness.
