Joseph S. Miller, 87, of Hazleton, Iowa died on Friday evening, July 29, 2011 at East Towne Care Center in Independence, Iowa

Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the First Baptist Church, Oelwein with Rev. Tim Schoepf officiating; Visitation: from 4;00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein and after 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday at the church; Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery, rural Oelwein, Iowa.

A Memorial Fund has been established in his name

Joseph S. Miller was born on March 29, 1924 at Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Levi C. & Sarah (Schrock) Miller. He received his education from the schools at Kalona, Iowa. Joseph was united in marriage to Fannie Mae Mast on February 23, 1943 at Fairbank, Iowa. Joseph worked as a machinist at John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo for 28 years.

Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oelwein. He enjoyed woodworking, camping, fishing,and traveling. Joe has been a resident of the East Towne Care Center since June of 2011.

Joseph is survived by his Wife: Fannie Miller of Hazleton, Iowa 4 Sons: Daniel Miller of Hazleton, Iowa Lee (Carol) Miller of Waterloo, Iowa Edward (Georgia) Miller of Independence, Iowa and Richard (Jana) Miller of Franksville, Wisconsin; 4 Daughters: Edith Biddinger of Oelwein, Iowa Shirley (Rich) Buhr of Oelwein, Iowa Marietta (Bill) Vance of Hazleton, Iowa and Gloria Pickett of Romania; 23 Grandchildren and 38 Great Grandchildren; 3 Brothers: Christ Miller of Amadel, Missouri Harvey ( Ida) Miller of Goshen, Indiana and Levi (Rosa) Miller, Jr. of Redding, Iowa; 3 Sisters: Mattie Mast of Sugar Creek, Ohio Barbara (Ezra) Miller of Topeka, Indiana and Sadie Elliot of Columbia, Missouri; Many Nieces & Nephews.

Preceded in death by his Parents, Daughter (Katie Sorge), 2 Great Grandchildren (Ella Huff and Chandler Gouchee) and 3 Sisters (Polly Mast, Edna Chupp and Susie Miller).
